Bill Gothard tells fathers they must be kind, loving, and humble—while also excusing their failures by blaming Adam’s sin. In this episode, we break down the contradictions in IBLP’s teachings on fatherhood. While Gothard demands that fathers control their tempers, accept their children unconditionally, and earn the right to be heard, the reality in many IBLP homes was quite different. Fathers often lost their tempers when children strayed from IBLP teachings, unconditional acceptance was unheard of, and respect was expected rather than earned. Join us as we expose the heavy burden these teachings placed on families.
