In this episode, we begin examining Bill Gothard’s “Early Signs of Rebellion” checklist from the IBLP Men’s Manual. While he claims to identify warning signs of defiance, many of the behaviors he describes—like feeling tension with parents or expressing concern about favoritism—are actually part of normal childhood development. Gothard’s phrasing suggests control over connection and leans toward isolating children from outside influences. I share a parenting principle that’s helped in my own home—“different child, different parenting”—and invite you to reflect on how we can raise kids with more grace, not fear.
